A Touch Of Winter Luxury

Winter is certainly the right time to engage in a little luxury, and Beth Graham has done just this with her latest collection for Hub. Drawing inspiration from late 70s British glamour, the combination of silks, tweed and corduroy works amazingly. Playing with a sumptuous palette of; dusky rose, mushroom, ochre and peat - the collection echoes of faded decadence. Accented with mother of pearl and fine leather belts, the ensembles are mature, ladylike and truly Beth Graham at its best.

Acne fashion show for autumn/winter 2010

We had the pleasure of being invited to the acne show which took place in London last February. Prior to the show Acne had organised a live jazz band and a champagne bar at the sophisticated Rivington Bar and Grill. A delightful way to spend ones evening. We came away feeling moved, inspired and slightly tipsy! Anyway on with the show... The collections were inspired by the creative directors home life! His sons are completely obsessed by Star Wars and the Clone Wars. The things that inspired him are, as he explains "not so literal, it is more the colour palate, the feeling and the shapes"
The show was very futuristic with beautiful orchestrated music. The silhouette was focused on drape, layering, pocketing and a long slender silhouette. Fabrics were characterized by drapey silks, textural ultra suede, burt wool, luxurious sheep skin, mesh and kid leathers.

...is in full swing. Here are a few glimpses of the highlights so far.
Our first trip was at the end of January to Paris to view the ACNE mainline menswear and the pre-collection for women.We absolutely loved both, heres a sneaky view of them. The womenswear was very elegant, beautiful dresses with pleated details, soft colour palette with luxurious, oversized knitwear. The mens main collection, a neutral colour palette of navy and greys, soft flannel shirting, indigo dyed garments and simple, clean knitwear.

Well here we are, 2010 on full throttle !
Where HUB is concerned we finished the latter of 2009 on a high. The exhibition that took place in the mens hub went off with a blast. This started our festive season running through till the beginning of January. The shop windows went down a treat, thanks to Shane for the papermache animal heads and thanks to blackboard paint for those dark, winter wonderland scenes. With thanks to our wonderful staff for making our HUB christmas night a special one, it started so well in The Rivington Bar and Grill then went completely downhill ending up at the same place as last year... the Joiners Arms ! Who's idea was that ? sophistication to utter cheese (fun nevertheless). Back to the shop - The SALE is in mid flow with a few bargains still to be had and will run on for a couple more weeks.
Moving on. We have started the new year with a burst of energy for HUB. Where shall i start ? - lots to talk about. The ladies HUB will be closing for refurbishment approximately one week from February 8th. We have major plans that will make your shopping experience at Hub an even better one !
Also our buying season is kicking in, with our first appointment tomorrow ! This will run through till mid March. This is always an exciting time as we re-evaluate and discuss at length what's going on at HUB and what we want to achieve.We look at our labels, move forward, bin some, keep some and find some new fresh stuff. We will be trawling the streets of London visiting numerous showrooms and visiting shows in Paris, Copenhagen and London, to fill our little shops with the pick of the crop.
Anyway, lets move on and talk about spring/summer 2010 and what treats we have in store for you. For the mens we will be re-introducing NUDIE. We decided its time to go back to this denim brand, its offers no fuss high quality denim in great staple styles, in store now...

I have at last found a great pair of boyfriend fit jeans, the answer actually is a boys denim. I find it hard with womens jeans as i am a 14/16, skinny ones just don't suit me. I feel really comfy in these Levi 504's worn a size bigger. I also love my french blue treetorn pumps and humanoid layering.

Its all about comfort , do you agree ?
